Понятно, что past six in the evening (либо past six p.m.)

a little past six,

Random Google Books quotes:

It was just past six. He decided to send Nancy Parish an e-mail, but before he started typing, he saw that she'd just sent him one...

--

I left the library at just past six pm and decided to take a chance that Riley Kendall might still be in her office.

--

Seminary Street, when I cruise in just past six, appears reduced to its village self.

and many more.

+1.

Six or so starts at 5:45 and ends at 6:15. :)

Мне кажется, "just past six" говорят об том, что уже произошло, в то время как "a little past six", о будущем, когда договариваются о встрече, и т.д.

На мой взгляд, "a little past six" = "shortly after six" = " a little after сих".

"A little past six" sounds quaint to me. Or it could be British. :)

"A little past six" sounds contrived to me too. I sense a slight difference between "shortly after six" and "a little after six":
"I'll talk to you shortly after six" sounds like an order to make that time interval as short as possible;
"I'll talk to you a little after six" is a much more comfortable suggestion, some time after six, whenever you can...

So, to clarify - "a little past six" is a substitute for "I will get to you whenever the hell I have time to do so, which could be hours or days." :)
