Коллеги, помоги разобраться с фразой. Художественный текст конца 19 века. Коротенькое описание утра заканчивается вот таким выводом: 

There was a prospect of as fine a day as ever gladdened the aspect of this beautiful and comfortable world. 

День обещал быть ясным\погожим\хорошим... а дальше я в замешательстве...

Обещался день ничем не хуже всех тех, что когда-либо сияли на радостном обличье этого прекрасного и уютного мира.

Спасибо. Значит, общий смысл я ухватила. А aspect может здесь относиться не ко всему миру, а к конкретному его уголку, в котором происходит действо?

Я бы сказал, что здесь такое словарное значение:

3) (внешний) вид, выражение (лица, глаз) frightening aspect — пугающий вид grim aspect — зловещий вид, устрашающий вид humorous aspect — забавное выражение лица serious aspect — серьёзное выражение лица

То есть некоторое торжественное наименование лица.
Впрочем, можно подождать, пока придут нейтивы, они скажут точнее.

Я на бегу посмотрел книги 19-го века, из которых видно, что под aspect of the world понимается "положение в мире" или "теперешнее состояние вещей в мире" (если так можно по-русски сказать):
