Элвис Пресли поет: "So then I dropped it in the mailbox And sent it special D"
Интересно, а что такое этот самый special D?

Imho, Special D means "Special Delivery"

Delivery of mail outside normal times: the delivery of mail more quickly than or outside normal delivery times for an extra fee

по смыслу как будто что-то вроде нашего "заказного" или "ценной бандеролью" =)))
а так, не понятно..

Да, special delivery

At the time the song was recorded, the fastest way to send something by U.S. Mail
was "Special Delivery". This meant that the mail piece was delivered very early in the morning of the day it arrived at the destination post office.

With the advent of express services such as Federal Express, DHL, Emery, Purolator, Airborne and others, the need for the service was diminished. It ceased to exist in the U.S. in 1997.
