ну существует типа легенда, что это исковерканное английское выражение all correct, записанное со слуха как "олл коррект" - ОК :)

Да, я когда-то тоже интересовался. Наиболее интересная версия выводит к и повальной моде на сокращения в речи и газетных объявлениях, All Correct, трансформировавшись в OK сначала устно, и потом, посредством безграмотных эммигрантов на страницах частных обьявлений, откуда уже получило широкое распространение.

еще есть легенда, что со времен гражданской войны так писали для обозначания потерь.
например
100 K - hundred killed
50 K - fifty killed
OK - zero killed - уже и OK
