Нет. Чтобы подчеркнуть важность, что ли; чтобы довести до всеобщего сведения - в общем, чтобы дать правильный перевод, нужен более широкий контекст, но общий смысл - "додавить".

Ага, спасибо. Ну вот типа - "чтобы как можно убедительнее донести до [своих остающихся в Пакистане и имеющих влияние знакомых] слова Министра иностранных дел..." То, что press home здесь в буквальном смысле совпадает с основным значением home, "домой" - случайность.

Ну, все-таки, ИМХО, не "передавать" - заявление и так публичное, тайной пересылки не требуется. :)
Именно - использовать свои контакты для разъяснений, чтоб там верно поняли намек.
