В данном случае корректный перевод будет: "combined regiments of (all) the fronts". Joint Regiment.

The Forward Line of Troops, or FEBA (Front Edge of Battlefield Area) is a term used by most armed force services worldwide. It is a battlespace control measure that designates the forward-most friendly and hostile forces that are presently on the battlefield during an armed conflict or war; whether it be regular infantry or reconnaissance. It can also identify the forward location of covering and screening forces. Normally the FLOT is placed before, beyond, or at the forward-most edge of the battlefield. Front (military)
A military front or battlefront is a contested armed frontier between opposing forces. This can be a local or tactical front, or it can range to a theater.

In making his decision for the forced river crossing, the army commander was guided by the existence in the offensive zone of a deeply echeloned enemy defense, well prepared in an engineer sense.

Four regiments in his brigade were required to produce twenty-five volunteers each for the crossing. Sedgwick's advance into Fredericksburg in the early morning of May 3 rendered the forced river crossing unnecessary.
