Товарищи, я пишу рассказ, и в нем излагаю мысли героини. Она там рассуждает, и время от времени говорит "И это хорошо".

И мне вот это "и это хорошо" ну очень хочется сказать словами "And good so":

"Of course he didn't understand anything. And good so."

Вопрос: можно ли так сказать в английском (американском) или уж совсем никак нельзя?

Я понимаю, что можно "And it is good", но звучит не так, музыка не та. Может, все-таки можно?

and that's a good thing, еще как вариант. and good so ни в коем случае, а вообще это такая довольно context sensitive штука, которая может по-разному звучать в разных ситуациях.

"Which is good" is what I would recommend.

Можете и сказать, но тогда читателю будет понятно, что героиня говорит на ломаном англйиском (что при известных обстоятельствах может соответствовать замыслу). Если же она задумана как носитель, то нет, так не говорят.

Если вам важен ритм, то and that is good или даже and good it is вполне вписываются.

There's not much to work with, but let's give it a try, starting with:

Of course he didn't understand anything...

If you want to follow this up with the idea that this seemingly bad outcome is entirely proper, you might say "and rightly so," e.g.

Of course he didn't understand anything, and rightly so, because the speaker was incoherent.

If, on the other hand, you want to indicate that this bad outcome is not only proper, but that things could have been a lot worse, you might say "and it's just as well," e.g.

Of course he didn't understand anything, and it's just as well, because if he had understood the insults, he would have beaten the speaker to death.

So if this expression is just something that your character interjects into his speech from time to time, its English translation will depend on whether your character is making a value judgment ("and rightly so") or going one step further ("and it's just as well").

это совсем даже не too much :))

но дело в том, что это не первый и не второй, а совсем третий случай:

там эта демонесса не хочет, чтобы ее "плохие" замыслы тот, к кому она их готовит, узнал слишком рано. Поэтому она говорит: "он ниче не понял, и хорошо!"

как вот это сказать? тут это "хорошо" как бы еще и цель означает.

So do I understand correctly that "и хорошо" is part of a magic incantation and is not some kind of filler used habitually (as when English speakers pepper their expressions with "like" or "y'know")?

Perhaps a few lines from the story would help?

The most direct expression would be: "He understood nothing, and that's good."

If I heard someone say that, though, I'd sort of expect they'd follow up with some kind of explanation of why "that's good."

У меня фраза "И это хорошо" вызывает немедленные ассоциации с Бытием, гл. 1.

Если эта ассоциация задумана, то:
