википедия утверждает что это Хейнот (если транскрибировать), а Мультитран: что Эно или Геннегау
два вопроса:
1. В названии бельгийской провинции откуда это разночтение: Hennegau и Hainaut: какое слово из какого языка и однокоренные ли они? эквиваленты ли?
2. Все-таки станцию лондонского метро и место в Лондоне как принято писать по-русски (и названо ли это место по бельгийской провинции или независимо от нее?)

Date: 2012-02-21 08:41 am (UTC)Hainault ( /ˈheɪnɔːt/) is an area in the London Borough of Redbridge in north east London. It is a suburban development located 12.2 miles (19.6 km) north east of Charing Cross. The area is split between the Chigwell and Ilford post towns in the IG postcode area.[1]
The area is part of the Metropolitan Green Belt and the suburb of Hainault is bordered on the east by Hainault Forest Country Park, by open land to the north and the boundary with the Epping Forest district of Essex.
Origins
The name Hainault was recorded as 'Hyneholt' in 1239, and means 'monastic woodland'. There is no connection with King Edward III's wife, Philippa of Hainault, though the current spelling may have been influenced by way of folk etymology.
Hainault lay just inside the Ilford Urban District of Essex,[2] almost straddling the border of Chigwell Urban District.[3] In 1965 Ilford Urban District along with an area of 81 acres (0.3 km2) from Chigwell Urban District near Hainault were transferred to form the London Borough of Redbridge in Greater London, along with other areas, namely Wanstead and Woodford, and that part of Dagenham Urban District extending to Hainault Forest. The population of the area transferred from Chigwell was 7,071 in 1961.[3]
