Date: 2012-05-19 01:38 pm (UTC)Or is it purely work with your web site? (i.e. translating catalogues, and mostly English-to-Russian, not the other way round) ?
Could you be a bit more specific about the nature of the job (especially considering that, according to your advertisement, candidates at very different skill levels are potentially suitable)?
2. Secondly, it is not typical to advertise for people of such widely different competence levels, as if it makes little difference to the employer. Why did you advertise for the full spectrum of skills? Do you have several open positions?
3. Who is going to do the vetting for the job? If you do not have a translator at the moment, who and how is going to evaluate the candidate's skills? Or are you planning to rely on some indirect signs sudh as previous jobs and/or a candidate's life history?

Date: 2012-05-19 01:51 pm (UTC)It's not my level of expertise in English that we are discussing, it is WHAT YOUR JOB INVOLVES, and therefore whether I could be interested in doing it and/or whether my participation could be beneficial to your company (it won't if all you actually need is a one-time web site translation and/or updates, for example)
You provided ZERO information about the job. Please amend this omission.

Date: 2012-05-21 03:48 am (UTC)
Big retail chains are not known to be the sweetest of employees, generally speaking. They are sweat shops. IKEA may or may not be an exception to the rule, but the flat refusal to explain anything, with a rude (ish) initial response tell me enough already.
Either - to put it bluntly - we are dealing with a young man with little experience in talking to others, or all they are looking for is a wage slave ready to toil for 8 hours for a subsistence wage, and therefore there exists a strong need to avoid any talk about any details whatsoever.
