Дано: статья о священных природных объектах. Общий смысл - на стыке проблем коренных народов, охраны окружающей среды, устойчивого развития рождаются новые подходы.

Вопросы:
- возможно ли перевести "academic scholarship..." как академическое образование в сфере социальных наук?

- здесь действительно логическая связь построена так: чтобы подтвердить... принимается точка зрения, что...?

My "never" is too categorical. Here is a counterexample: Volumes of academic scholarship point to the fact that Earth is flat.

В данном случае, academic scholarship это научная общественность

причем следует отметить, что это крайне редкое и в данном случае весьма неудачное употребение термина. Гораздо лучше было бы сказать "social sciences scholars".

Taкже, acknowledge в данном случае не подтвердить, а принять существование, можно даже сказать - учесть.
