Bombay, or Mumbai as it's now officially known, is considered by many to be India's most westernized city. Founded on the coast of the Arabian Sea by the Portuguese, it has taken just 500 years for this aboriginal fishing settlement to become a sprawling city of thirteen million people. Bombay generates 35 percent of India's GNP, its port handles half the country's foreign trade, and its movie industry is the biggest in the world. http://www.ci.la.ca.us/SisterCities/mumbai.htm (http://www.ci.la.ca.us/SisterCities/mumbai.htm)
